Peter Drissell

Peter Drissell

Director of Aviation Security, CAA United Kingdom
Peter Drissell was appointed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as its first Director of Aviation Security in May 2013, and led the transfer of aviation security functions (c90 posts) from the Department for Transport to the CAA in April 2014. Peter now heads the CAA's Aviation Security Directorate as a member of the Authority's Executive Committee, leading the development of its regulatory and compliance monitoring roles, and having as a key aim the movement of aviation security towards a more performance- and risk based approach. Before joining the CAA, Peter was for five years the Home Office's Director of Security & Business Continuity, and prior to that served for 32 years in the Royal Air Force, from which he retired as an Air Commodore in April 2007. His last appointment as Air Officer Force Protection combined the roles of Commandant General of the RAF Regiment and Air Officer RAF.
