Doug Cochrane

Doug Cochrane is a Director in Thornton Tomasetti’s Protective Design & Security practice, based in London. Doug is a General Security Advisor with the Institution of Civil Engineers’ Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES), and has more than 17 years’ experience in security design and consulting.

Before joining Thornton Tomasetti in 2025, Doug spent several years with an international specialist risk-management company, most recently as a Director. His experience spans mixed-use developments, critical infrastructure, stadiums and government facilities, with projects delivered across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Africa.

Doug holds a degree in Building Surveying from the University of the West of England and began his career as a Building Control Surveyor. This background gives him strong knowledge of building-regulation requirements, including fire-safety considerations associated with electronic access control.
