Having spent the majority of her career working in the national security arena including posts overseas in the USA and in Afghanistan, Debbie was appointed to her current role in September 2019. Debbie has extensive experience working with a wide range of partners including emergency services; industry; charities; community organisations; and local authorities. Debbie’s role is to work with partners to strengthen the UK’s protection against a terrorist attack and to mitigate the impact of an incident if it occurs. Her responsibilities include delivering the new approach to the protection of public venues and oversight of the Victims of Terrorism Unit.
