Andrews's career spans design, installation, manufacture and consultancy. After graduating in electronic & electrical engineering, Andrew set up and directed a number of businesses including security installation, electrical engineering and product design. Growth of these organisations led to Andrew being involved across many market sectors including high end residential, commercial, retail, and industrial markets. Through innovation and application of digital technology, Andrew led these businesses into growth areas including modularised building systems, integrated security and developing security products and solutions utilised across the retail and public sector. In 2000, Andrew led the business sale of his core security installation business to Chubb Plc, which allowed him to move into a security consultancy role at BuroHappold Engineers, an international multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy practice. His involvement at Project Director level include many international iconic sporting venues, financial districts and cultural and educational establishments. Andrews's key capabilities include the aptitude to realise risk, address the primary issues and provide leadership to develop fully engineered and deployable solutions that cross many facets of security engineering. His professional career includes both fellowship of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, and The Institution of Engineering and Technology, membership of the Association of Security Consultants and Register of Security Engineers & specialists (RSES). He is a member of the RSES steering group and chairs the RSES academic qualifications group, furthermore he is an IET professional review interviewer (PRI) for IET Engineering Council registration. Additionally, Andrew has been a contributor to security publications and is currently involved on a number of British Standards Institute, IET and CIBSE, RSES standards and technical committees.
