Krakow-based startup DefendEye, founded in 2023, has announced the successful closing of its seed funding round, paving the way for further development and global expansion of its cutting-edge autonomous drone technology powered by AI. The round was backed by two prominent venture capital funds-Sunfish Partners and Hard2Beat-as well as four angel investors from Poland, the United States, and Israel.

DefendEye is pioneering the world’s first fully autonomous drones, which require no pilot, have not even a remote control & can be launched in under 10 seconds. Started from a compact, portable launch tube, these drones are operational in just 10 seconds. Equipped with state-of-the-art features such as real-time human detection, tracking, and night vision, DefendEye’s drones are poised to revolutionize applications in rescue operations, defense, and civilian sectors like infrastructure inspection and agriculture. Leveraging AI, the systems far surpass human capabilities in speed and precision, identifying targets from altitudes of up to 120 meters with greater accuracy than a human spotter can.

– In line with DefendEye’s mission, our technology democratizes drone operation, making it accessible to a wide range of users without training. We help professionals respond quickly and save lives – emphasizes James Buchheim, Co-Founder and CEO of DefendEye.

The innovation extends beyond functionality to affordability and sustainability. With a unit cost of under €600, the drones are produced using eco-friendly, biodegradable materials. Designed for versatility, they can be deployed from both portable and stationary launchers, making them an ideal solution for border surveillance and crisis response.

The newly secured funding will enable DefendEye to scale production and accelerate its entry into international markets. The company made its debut at the MSPO 2024 trade fair, where it garnered significant attention from the defense and security industries.
