Collaborating for a safer future

Collaborating for a safer future

It’s been a busy few weeks at Highway Care. Not only have we had a refresh of our brand, a new website and our operations team schedule has been full up with installations, but we have been involved in various events too.

The recent PSSA - Perimeter Security Suppliers Association Interact Day in Warwick provided a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues from across the event security and perimeter protection sector. Events like these are so important for collaboration and knowledge sharing across in our industry, providing a catalyst for the innovation that lies at the heart of Highway Care’s business.

With Martyn’s Law – now referred to as the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill - being progressed through parliament, there has never been a more urgent or compelling time to nurture collaboration. Across all sectors that will be affected by the legislation, including the events industry, sports, retail, culture and the public realm, there is a fresh focus on understanding risk and the forthcoming compliance obligations, along with a drive to identify solutions that will be both affordable and effective in mitigating risk to keep people and places safer.

At Highway Care Security, we have experienced a huge amount of buy-in and enthusiasm for our range, in particular the #RB50 rapid deployment, moveable HVM barrier, which can be deployed in standard ‘as rated’ 4m arrays in minutes, reconfigured to provide versatility during the course of a single deployment, and moved aside quickly to enable access into protected areas for authorised and emergency vehicles. This flexible HVM solution, which can be deployed by trained technicians in both IWA 14-1:2013 and PAS 68:2013 compliant installations, has been specified and installed for a wide range of high profile projects by our events installation partner Crowdguard, including President Biden’s visit to Dublin, Coronation celebrations in central London, and both live music events and sports fixtures at the BT Murrayfield stadium in Edinburgh.

In addition to the benefits of using #RB50 to protect pedestrians by securing road closures and vulnerable locations for events, we’ve also had a great deal of interest in this product as a solution for protecting roadworks from vehicle incursions. Contractors, local authorities and other stakeholders are all interested in how #RB50 can complement traffic management measures to prevent vehicles from entering the work area, where operatives are working and vulnerable to incursions. At the recent Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) Innovation Festival, it was clear that protecting people with HVM is just as relevant to the safety and wellbeing of people at work as it to safeguarding people from harm while they enjoy doing the things they love.

#RB50 is just one of the solutions in our security portfolio, and our team are experts who can advise on the most suitable perimeter security solutions to protect people and places. We are really proud to contribute to a sector that is not only serving customers, but serving society with solutions that help people return home safely.
