Defining the Nation State Cyber Adversary in 2025
Unsurprisingly the Chinese, Russian, Iranian and North Korean’s (CRINK) have vast networks of both criminal, contractor, activist, military, and government intelligence agencies. In this talk Ian Thorton-Trump CD explores these CRINK relationships and how hostile nation state’s build national and international offensive cyber capability. This comes as no-surprise as the military industrial complex of the west has built very similar structures and relationships. Is there now an argument that suggests CRINK threat actors are more of an “intelligence problem” and less of “justice problem”? Does the re-definition of the nation state threat actor (NSTA) enable intelligence services to take “active measures” including - under justifiable circumstances - kinetic action against Nation State advisories? Join Ian Thornton-Trump CD as he explores the Nation State Threat Actor in what maybe a new context.
