Chair, Emergency Planning Society

Jacqui is a highly respected and qualified motivated and innovative resilience leader. She has extensive experience in leadership, management, emergency management, business continuity management, risk, crisis management, safety advisory groups, training and development. She is an exceptional communicator and collaborator with specific interests in organisational and business cultures, people management, partnerships and collaboration.

A graduate of Coventry University and Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Jacqui started her career in social services, holding numerous roles over a period of 14 years, including managing home care services for older and vulnerable people and she also trained as a counsellor working with alcohol addiction and bereavement.

In 1998, she assumed the post of senior manager for the British Red Cross and was responsible for the management and support of 250+ volunteers and staff, delivering a number of specialist services including; emergency response, first aid at large scale events, international appeals and the development of needs led services to vulnerable people across Scotland.

With a successful career in local government, her current position is as senior manager, with responsibility for risk, resilience and safety. She recently led the council’s planning and participation in the UK counter terrorist exercise and the preparation and delivery of the Open Golf Championship, Carnoustie.

Jacqui is a member of and chair of various committees, working groups, locally and nationally and a number of editorial boards. She co-facilitates the delivery of the emergency procedures advisor course and the event command course, at the Police College, Scotland.

Jacqui was recently elected as Chair of the Emergency Planning Society, (the professional body and leading voice of the resilience profession) and is looking forward to making a difference and delivering new horizons within the profession.

Jacqui is married with two sons, and in the spare time she has left, her hobbies are reading, badminton, zumba, pipe band enthusiast, member of the Scottish Police and Community Choir and having long walks with Molly & Maisie my lovable Labrador and Westie
