Ann Travers

Advocacy Officer, South East Fermanagh Foundation (SEFF)
My 23 year old sister Mary and parents , Tom and Joan were attacked by IRA terrorists as they walked home from mass in Belfast on 8th April 1984. Mary was a 23 year old primary school teacher and was killed by a single bullet in the back. My father Tom was shot 6 times, seriously injured but survived. He was a Resident Magistrate. The same gunman who shot Mary, tried to shoot my mum in the head but the gun jammed. They were shot 200 yards from our home, 14 year old me and my brothers came upon the immediate aftermath. Since 2011 I have advocated for victims rights, in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
